Hey, I’m Justin, the director of Etherion Designs.
As someone who’s practiced environment design for over 20 years, I’ve always felt that Unreal has been incredibly slack in the area of instanced physics interaction. To this day, there has still not been any out-of-the box foliage interation solution, despite the overwhelming need for it.
Most devs end up having to hack together their own solution, which often hits performance walls and costs months of wasted time.
So in 2023 I decided to step away from asset development and focus on big goal: to make foliage interaction smoother, faster, and a whole lot more enjoyable for Unreal Engine devs. So I went and hired two programmers with over 15 years of game dev experience. After around two years of hard work (and a lot of late-night feedback sessions), we ended up making a foliage system that’s lightweight, optimized, and easy to use in any project, whether you’re building a small indie game or a full-scale world.
